Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The festive spirit will flow at the Sutera Harbour Resort with the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony launched at The Magellan Sutera Resort. The Hon. Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah and Minister of Resource Development & Information Technology officially launched the holiday season at 7.00pm when a symbolic candle was lighted and the spectacular Christmas tree lights begin to dazzle at the lobby of The Magellan Sutera Resort.

In his welcome speech, Mr Ravi Kathiravelu, General Manager of The Magellan Sutera Resort highlighted ‘Christmas is a season of goodwill which is to be found in such abundance on this festive season. It is always pleasing to see our guests celebrating the holidays and share in our celebrations with friends and family at the Resort.’

Ravi further enthused, ‘The yearned bring no greater pleasure than the opportunity for us to express the season’s greetings and to gratefully appreciate those who have made our progress possible. We thank you for the business you sent our way this past year and we wish you great success in this New Year.’

Wilti Jos Lights-Sound-Stage company co-sponsored the event, it’s Sales & Marketing Director Mr Jeff Lu said, ‘We are pleased to be a part of this event to welcome the festive season.’

Also in attendance is YBhg Datin Vicky Yee, the wife of The Hon. Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, Datuk Edward Ong President of Sutera Harbour Resort and his wife Datin Enung Njoman. Also joined in the crowd to witness the auspicious evening were the Board of Directors, Executive Committee Members of the Sutera Harbour Resort Group namely the CEO of SHR Mr Frank Liepmann, Mr Brian Werner General Manager of Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club and Mr Stefan Willimann General Manager of The Pacific Sutera Hotel.


Sutera Harbour Resort Shares Their Gift Of Love

In the spirit of giving during the festive season, Sutera Harbour Resort hosted 40 children from Desa Pukak Hostel under the Good Shepherd Welfare Centre at Sutera Harbour Marina & Country Club today.

The children were welcomed by the Executive Committee Members of SHR as well as its personnel. The 8 to 10 years old played few rounds of bowling at the Striker’s Bowl and later enjoyed a delightful lunch where they were entertained by the Magical Clown. The highlight of the day was when Santa Claus comes in bearing gifts for each child and they were also given a printed photo of themselves posing with Santa.

The annual Children Christmas party aims to share the message of sharing and giving in the spirit of Christmas.

Sutera Harbour Resort also continues their Sharity project to support and share with the underprivileged in our local community. This year we bring to you the Sutera Sharity Bracelet which sends a message of Peace, Hope and Love. Nett proceed from this campaign will be donated to the Emmanual Homes and My Care Sdn Bhd.

With the festive season approaching, let us pass on the joy and goodwill of the season to help raise funds for the children in the interior.  By purchasing the Sutera SHARITY Bracelet you are donating to a worthy cause and giving a message of Peace, Hope and Love.

The day ends with a 3kg cake presentation to the Desa Pukak Hostel.

The Desa Pukak Hostel is for primary school children located in the village of Pukak, Kiulu, in the district of Tuaran in Sabah. This hostel was established in January 2008 and is located about 1 hour 30 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu and.  It has the capacity to accommodate 26 children.

The main objective of this hostel is to enable these children, who come from remote rural villages surrounding Pukak, to attend school on a regular basis so as to raise their academic standards and complete their primary education successfully.

The hostel adopts a holistic approach towards the development of the children and this is reflected through the various programmes that are conducted for them which encompass personal, social, value-based, spiritual, academic and intellectual aspects of formation.

The Hostel is jointly managed by Pusat Kebajikan Good Shepherd and the Hostel Management Team comprising villagers from Pukak, Kelobaan and Liposu.

The children later attended the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at The Magellan Sutera Resort.


10th Sutera Harbour Junior Open Prize Presentation

93 junior golfers participated in the 10th Sutera Harbour Junior Amateur Golf Championship held from 4th to 5th December 2011 with 58 players from Sabah, 25 from Kuala Lumpur, 5 from Sarawak, 4 from Singapore and 1 from the Philippines.

The tournament was open to all junior golfers who are amateur golfers in accordance to the Rules of Amateur status issued by the R&A Rules Limited and have a USGA handicap index of 21.4 and below for boys and 32.4 and below for girls. This only applies for those who have not reached their 21st birthday on 1st January 2011. However, the organizing committee would also consider an assigned handicap by a club..

The tournament also offered exciting Hole-In-One prizes for the junior golfers

  • 1 unit of Mizuno Golf set valued at RM10,000.00 sponsored by Royal Sporting House (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd
  • 1 Term Golf Membership worth RM12,000.00 Sponsored by Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club

Other sponsors of the event include 100Plus and MS3Golf who sponsored the isotonic drinks and goodies bag for the participants.This is also the third year where Sutera Harbour Junior Amateur Open Golf Championship is introduced in the SportExcel National Junior Golf Circuit calendar. The prize presentation ceremony held at Albatross Hall, Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club was attended by YBhg Datuk Stan Yee Director of Sutera Harbour Resort, Mr Foo Kia Inn Director of Sutera Harbour Resort and Mr Brian Werner, General Manager of Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club.

“The Championship aims to promote a friendly competition and good fellowship among the junior golfers not only from Kota Kinabalu but also junior golfers from out of Sabah. This will give them the opportunity to learn from each other and improve their golfing skills”, said Brian Werner during the prize presentation.
