Come rain or shine, the Fun Run must go on! As many as 13,000 people must be sharing the same thought when they turned up for the 12th Sutera Harbour 7K Sunset Charity Run 2012 held on July 7.
Also participating were the Minister of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah, YB Datuk Masidi Manjun, Mayor of KK City, YBhg Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Assistant Minister of Local Government & Housing, YB Datuk Edward Yong, Founder of Sutera Harbour 7K Run and Director of Sutera Harbour Resort, Mr Foo Kia Inn, and the CEO of Sutera Harbour Resort, Mr Frank Liepmann. Together with the members of Badan Amal dan Kebajukan Isteri Wakil-wakil Rakyat Sabah (BAKISA) and the representatives from the sponsors, they helped several patients from the two beneficiaries to be a part of the 7K Run by assisting them in their wheelchairs in the second flag off.
Mr Brian Werner, General Manager of Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club said in his speech this remarkable achievement was possible due to the tremendous support shown by the public. “It is,” he said, “a testimony of the love and kindness of the local community.” Mr Werner also hope the Sutera Harbour 7K Sunset Charity Run, which is included in Sabah’s tourism calendar will attract even more national and international participants to boost Sabah’s sports tourism.
After the sweating and running, the crowd unwind during the 7K Post Run Concert with special performances by local celebrities Rozza Rothman, Esther Clement Tubong, Lydia Kalidin, Clarice John Matta, Clarice Sipanul, Marcel Gatisi, Ryna Tongkooh, Syra Gom, S Welly, Rey Nizam, Ridah, Nera AF9, Orkes Akiuku, Appy Tots and the popular Singaporean artist, Aliff Aziz.
This litter free event was supported by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall, the Ministry of Youth & Sports Sabah, Kota and the Federal Youth & Sports Department in Sabah. The official drink is F&N/100Plus while Suria FM was appointed the official radio station for the event.
