‘CLIMB OF HOPE’ Sutera Harbour Resort is pleased to announce its support for ‘Climb of Hope’, a charity climb up Mount Kinabalu, South East Asia’s highest mountain (4095m above sea-level) in Sabah, by a group of voluntary climbers with the purpose of raising fund for National Cancer Society of Malaysia on 26th August 2011 at the Press Conference which was held at the National Cancer Society of Malaysia’s office recently.
Supporting community projects such as this is nothing new to Sutera Harbour Resort as this it is in line with one of its core values, Community Involvement. In fact, every year, Sutera Harbour Resort organises the much anticipated and participated 7K Charity Sunset Run, which is also to raise fund for NGOs in Kota Kinabalu.
For Climb of Hope, Sutera Harbour Resort will be sponsoring the entire accommodation for the group of 14 climbers, aged between 16 to early 50s as well as food and beverage at Kinabalu Park and Laban Rata; which are managed by its affiliated resort, Sutera Sanctuary Lodges and also after climb accommodation at its 5-star hotel, The Pacific Sutera Hotel.
Apart from the above support, some of Sutera Harbour Resort’s management staff have also volunteered to be part of this group namely Samuel Gacos-Group Director of Sales & Marketing, Kattie Hoo-Director of MarCom (Corporate Office), June Poon-Senior Sales Manager and Ivan Tan from the Graphics Department as well as Adrian Rozario, General Manager of Sutera Sanctuary Lodges.
Sabah Parks have also agreed to waive part of the charges which are required for the climb and Mandara Spa, located at The Magellan Sutera Resort, another 5-star resort located within Sutera Harbour Resort, is sponsoring a 50-minute massage for the climbers upon completion of their climb. Other sponsors that have pledged their support include Timberland who is providing the full gear for all the 14 climbers, and Firefly for their return air ticket for Ms Thanuja Ananthan-Ambassador of National Cancer Society of Malaysia and Ms Malaysia World 2009 and her sister, Anuja Ananthan. Firefly is also contributing two return tickets KL-Sandakan-KL for the first climber to reach the summit.
Donors who have come forward so far with substantial cash pledges include caring individuals and corporations such as Andaman Property and Euro-Atlantic.
To date, Climb of Hope have set a target of RM50k in cash pledges and to date have received a total of RM30k.
