FACT OF THE DAY : Black swans are born white.
That was an interesting fact pointed out by our special guest, Dr. Clarence Tan – a technologist, academician, entrepreneur, innovator, inventor, investor, researcher, financial trader, knowledge seeker and writer.
It’s not everyday that we meet an Asia Pacific Regional Ambassador of Singularity University which is based in NASA Ames Research Park, Silicon Valley, USA.
Born in Klang, Malaysia and attended LaSalle School there, Dr. Clarence was one of the top students and a Selangor state swimmer. An Electrical Engineering graduate from University of Southern California, he specializes in computing and completed a dual masters; MBA in Finance and a Masters of Science in Industrial and System Engineering in Robotics.
Gaining a full scholarship at Bond University, he earned a PhD in artificial neural network applications in finance and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Bond and Griffith universities on the Gold Coast, Australia.
First time traveling to Sabah, he is certainly impressed with the vastness of our 384-acre integrated resort. There’s a lot to explore such as the 15 F&B outlets, internationally renowned Mandara Spa as well as the Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club which has a host of indoor/outdoor recreational facilities which includes a 27-hole Graham Marsh designed championship golf course, a 50m Olympic sized lap pool, a 12 lane Brunswick bowling alley, and a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre.
Dr. Clarence, we are honoured to have you stay with us and we wish you a wonderful time in Kota Kinabalu. Hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to our side of paradise more often in the near future!
