Carving his niche at Sutera Harbour Resort is Kedah-born Chef Noppanome A/L Juan, better known as Nopp. Growing up, Nopp spent much of his childhood in the kitchen with his father, who is an excellent cook specialising in Western cuisine.
Captivated by the culinary world, he began his culinary career in 1996 as a 2nd Commis at Hosba Valley Resort, Kedah upon completion of his high-school education. Since then, he has worked his way up through several hotels such as Holiday Villa Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Hotel Seberang Perai Penang, Equatorial Cameron Highlands, The Datai Langkawi and The Bella Vista Resort & Spa Langkawi.
Nopp also served onboard the Lili Marleen Luxury Cruise Yacht Bella Vista in Langkawi and was a Chef Consultant of Garden Hill Restaurant, Bar & Lounge in Kuching, Sarawak.
Having almost two decades of culinary experience, Nopp specialises in Asian (Thai, Malay and Indian) as well as Western Cuisine. One of his fondest memory is cooking for the ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in 2004 from March 15 to 21.
Besides cooking, Nopp is passionate about food carving where he won the Bronze Award for Fruit Carving Cullinaire Malaysia in 2009 and later in 2011, he was 2nd Runner Up at the Langkawi Geopark Fruit Carving Competition.
As the Chef De Cuisine at Spice Island Restaurant, located in Sutera Harbour Marina & Country Club, he brings with him the passion for a balanced cuisine that draws upon fresh ingredients infused with Malay and Indian influences taking you on a splendid epicurean journey that will delight your senses and leave you wanting more.
