Runners, get ready! Sabah’s BIGGEST charity running event is back again in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday, 20 August 2016!
At the press conference held on 18 July 2016 at our 100-seat theatre in Sutera Harbour Marina & Country Club, the resort’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Gerard Tan announced that Sutera Harbour Resort will continue to raise funds for its two beneficiaries – Sabah Thalassaemia Society and Special Olympics Sabah!
Funds will be collected through registration for the RUN, sales of 7K vouchers (F&B) as well as cash sponsors. The total amount collected will be announced and divided equally between the beneficiaries.
Back by demand is the 7K Collection Card which will be distributed to selected schools in Kota Kinabalu. Depending on the amount collected and number of runners registered, the school can retain up to 90% of the total gross amount collected, which the respective school will use for their activities and projects. Last year, a total of RM42,300.84 was donated to the beneficiaries through the 7K Collection cards.
It was also announced that the 7K route will remain the same as last year’s run, where runners will run along the Sutera Harbour Boulevard towards the Imago Link Bridge passing by Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu, KK Times Square and return to Sutera Harbour Resort by making a u-turn at the end of the junction of Imago Shopping Mall.
Everyone is a winner at the end of this run! There will be attractive lucky draw prizes up for grabs which will be announced during the 7K Post Run Concert, back at the Covered Tennis Court with live performances by Sabah’s local talents. Enjoy food & beverage stalls plus fun activity corner for all who are young at heart!
This run was first initiated in 2000, which started with 3,000 runner. Last year, the 7K Run saw more than 10,000 supporters running for a humble cause with a total collection of RM202,016.95 for the 7K Beneficiaries – Sabah Thalassaemia Society (STS) and Special Olympics Sabah (SOS).
These beneficiaries are non-profit organisations located in Kota Kinabalu. SOS provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-typed sports for children and adult with disabilities. Meanwhile, STS provides medical services to patients of Thalassaemia, an inherited blood disorder that requires regular blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants as treatment options.
